About Prologic Skincare
What exactly is corneotherapy?+
Corneotherapy is a science-based skin care approach focused on one thing: repairing and protecting the skin barrier. The skin barrier is the outermost layer of skin, and it controls how your skin holds moisture, responds to products, and defends itself against irritants and inflammation. When the barrier is functioning well, most skin concerns improve naturally. Corneotherapy works by restoring that function rather than masking symptoms.
How is it different from a regular facial or skin treatment?+
Most skin treatments work on the surface, improving how skin looks on the day. Corneotherapy works at a functional level, addressing why the skin behaves the way it does. The results take longer to appear but they are also far more stable. Rather than a temporary improvement, you are building real, lasting change in how your skin functions.
What skin concerns can corneotherapy help with?+
Corneotherapy is effective for a wide range of concerns including sensitivity, redness, rosacea, acne, congestion, dehydration, uneven tone, and signs of premature ageing. Because the approach restores overall skin function rather than targeting one condition in isolation, it often improves multiple concerns at the same time.
How does ongoing care work?+
After your New Client Facial, you choose how to continue. Some clients book a regular Customised Facial every 4 to 6 weeks. Others prefer the 3-Month Review cadence, which is the minimum to keep your prescription current and your skin progressing. The skin barrier does not repair overnight, and most clients notice improvements within 2 to 12 weeks. Ongoing care allows us to work through seasonal changes, lifestyle shifts, and hormonal evolution, refining your prescription as your skin responds.
What if I am already using prescription products or taking medications?+
Please include everything in your Initial Consultation Form. Corneotherapy can often work alongside prescription care, and in many cases actively supports it. We will review your full health picture before making any recommendations. If we feel a medical consultation is needed first, we will say so.
What does the support in the first four weeks involve?+
After your prescription arrives, you will receive support to adjust your routine, monitor your skin's response, and build the habits that underpin lasting progress. Support is delivered in a way that suits you, by email, phone, or video.
Can I join if I am not based in Auckland?+
The initial skin assessment and in-clinic facials require you to visit us in person. However, prescription skincare and virtual support can be managed remotely. If you are based further away, get in touch and we can work out a schedule that suits your situation.
My skin feels different since switching to Prologic. Is that normal?+
Yes, and it is a good sign. Prologic products work with your skin's barrier rather than sitting on top of it. As your skin adjusts, it begins rebalancing its own oils and hydration levels, something it may not have been able to do freely while using heavier, film-forming cosmetic products. This adjustment phase is temporary and usually settles within 2 to 6 weeks as the barrier stabilises.
I am seeing small bumps or congestion. Should I be concerned?+
Not at all. As the barrier begins to repair, the skin becomes better at clearing debris that has been sitting within the pores. Small bumps or temporary congestion are part of that process, not a reaction to the products. They typically settle within a few weeks as the barrier strengthens and inflammation reduces.
Can I use my existing skincare alongside Prologic?+
We recommend against mixing routines, at least during the adjustment phase. Many cosmetic formulas contain ingredients including synthetic fragrances, silicones, and strong exfoliants that can interfere with barrier repair. A clean, consistent routine gives you the fastest and most stable results.
Why does Prologic use Retinyl Palmitate rather than a stronger retinoid?+
Retinyl Palmitate is the mildest and most skin-compatible form of Vitamin A. It is structurally similar to the Vitamin A that naturally exists in the skin, which means it is accepted without the irritation associated with stronger retinoids. It converts gradually into its active form, supporting cell renewal, collagen function, and even skin tone without disrupting the barrier. For sensitive, reactive, or compromised skin, it is the right choice.
How do I order skincare, and how long does it last?+
All Prologic Skincare is ordered directly through us. We do not hold physical stock at the clinic, so products are delivered overnight to your door for $13.50. We encourage you to stock up when ordering to make the most of each delivery. With daily use, most products last 4 to 6 months, which aligns well with your regular review appointments.
